KERNERSVILLE – An N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will implement slow-rolling traffic closures Saturday night on eastbound Interstate 40 south of Kernersville to refresh the existing pavement markings.
The operation is necessary to pace traffic, so crews can safely perform this work between I-74 East (Exit 196) and Union Cross Road (Exit 201). The work is weather-dependent and a part of the ongoing Winston-Salem Northern Beltway project.
The slow-moving operation is expected to begin at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 31, and finish by 5 a.m. Sunday. The operation will proceed slowly through the work zone, and allow the traffic congestion to decrease, before making another slow-rolling pass.
To avoid the work, eastbound drivers are encouraged to take U.S. 421 South (Salem Parkway), or utilize I-74 East to Union Cross Road and return to I-40 East to travel around the work zone. Otherwise, drivers should expect brief delays and be alert while travelin in this work zone Saturday night.
