I-26 Green River Bridge Requiring Lane Closure

HENDERSONVILLE - A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will close a short stretch of Interstate 26 East near the Green River bridge beginning Sunday night.

Starting at 7 p.m. on June 8, crews from Flatiron-Dragados Construction will close the outside lane of I-26 East to safely build shoulder berm gutter, pour concrete and pave a section near the Green River bridge.

The lane is scheduled to open by 6 a.m. on June 13 to allow free-flowing traffic over the weekend. No daytime closures are permitted for the project on Fridays or weekends.

This operation is part of a $27 million project to widen and rehabilitate the Green River bridge. Engineers anticipate completing all operations late this fall.
