Weekend Lane Closure Scheduled on I-40 West in Forsyth County

WINSTON SALEM – An N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will temporarily close a lane of Interstate 40 West in Forsyth County this weekend.  This work is part of the ongoing Winston-Salem Northern Beltway project and is necessary to shift westbound traffic onto the new concrete pavement.

Beginning Friday, June 6 at 9 pm, I-40 West will be reduced to one lane approaching Union Cross Road (Exit 201).  The lane closure  will continue through the construction work zone to allow crews room to install new pavement markings and to relocate concrete barrier.  I-40 West will reopen to two lanes prior to 5 am on Monday, June 9.

To avoid congestion, westbound drivers are encouraged to utilize U.S. 421 North (Salem Parkway) and travel around the work area.

Drivers should use caution while traveling through the work zones and plan accordingly for delays associated with the slow-moving traffic.
