Public Meeting Coming for Yancey County Bridges

BURNSVILLE – The N.C. Department of Transportation invites the public to a meeting from 4-7 p.m. on June 11 regarding the replacement of three Yancey County bridges damaged by Hurricane Helene.

The purpose of the project — the three bridges are combined into one work package — is to reestablish critical roads damaged by Helene, and where feasible, install resiliency features to protect infrastructure in future storms. The three bridges are located off of N.C. 197 South along at Toodies Creek Road, Riverview Road and Cattail Creek.

The meeting will be held at the Burnsville Town Center, 6 South Main St. There will be no formal presentation. Engineers will share the latest information, answer questions and  receive comments.
