MAIDEN – Part of a Lincoln County road will close this weekend while contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation realign an intersection.
Crews from Tri-County Paving will close Ivey Church Road from Short Cut Road to Buffalo Shoals Road from 7 a.m. Friday, July 18, until 7 a.m. Monday, July 21, to realign the intersection of Ivey Church Road and Buffalo Shoals Road. The project will increase sight distance and improve safety for all drivers.
Work this weekend involves removing the current intersection approaches on both sides of Ivey Church Road and using the material to build the new approach on the closure side. Drivers will use the new intersection alignment when the road reopens Monday.
Advanced warning and detour signs will guide drivers around the closure using Short Cut Road.
NCDOT officials anticipate crews will finish remaining items like striping, signage and implementing erosion control measures by the end of the year.
