WASHINGTON - A stretch of U.S. 264 will close for several months beginning next week.
Starting July 21, U.S. 264 will close in both directions near Highland Drive as the City of Washington upgrades drainage structures under the highway.
This closure is anticipated to last 3 months, weather permitting.
Signs alerting the public are posted and a detour is in place to take drivers to 15th Street to access either side of the closure.
Motorists are advised to use caution when approaching the detour and plan ahead due to the longer than normal commute.
