HILLSBOROUGH - Contract crews for the N.C. Department of Transportation will be performing nightly closures of Interstate 40 East for the next two evenings.
Beginning tonight at 11 p.m., crews from The Lane Construction Corporation will close I-40E between the off and on ramps of Old NC-86 for bridge construction activities related to the I-40 widening project.
Additionally, Old NC-86 will be closed nightly between the I-40 off and on ramps beginning tonight at 10 p.m.
Both closures will reopen by 5 a.m. the following morning and will repeat the evening of July 24.
Old NC-86 and the I-40E exit 261 ramp will also close the evening of July 25 at 10 p.m. and reopen the following morning by 5 a.m.
Signed detours will be provided to direct motorists around both closures.
Drivers are reminded to use caution when approaching the work zone and detour and use DriveNC.gov for real-time traffic information.
