HILLSBOROUGH – Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation plan to close an off-ramp along Interstate 40 for three weeks, weather permitting.
Starting at 10 p.m., Oct. 19, the Exit 261 off-ramp from I-40 East onto Old N.C. 86 will close to allow for ramp construction. The ramp is scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m., Nov. 10.
During the closure, a signed detour will direct motorists to proceed on I-40 East and take Exit 263 to get on I-40 West back to Exit 261.
Transportation officials remind drivers to plan ahead, remain alert and obey all posted traffic signs.
