RALEIGH - The North Carolina Turnpike Authority is continuing construction on the eastern portion of the Complete 540 project, Phase 2. This project will extend the Triangle Expressway (Toll N.C. 540) from the I-40/I-42/Toll N.C. 540 interchange near Garner and Clayton to the existing I-540/I-87/U.S. 64/U.S. 264 interchange in Knightdale, providing the missing link to complete the outer 540 loop around the greater Raleigh area.
Rock Quarry Road between Auburn Knightdale Road and Old Baucom Road is scheduled to temporarily close to through traffic overnight on or around Monday, November 3 through Friday, November 7 from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. each night.
Following the road closure, Rock Quarry Road between Auburn Knightdale Road and Old Baucom Road is scheduled to experience temporary intermittent lane closures to complete scheduled construction activities.
Drivers may experience delays and should pay close attention when driving along the posted detour route. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area, if possible. If drivers must be in the area, they are advised to take the detour route by following signs along the roadway.
Drivers wishing to access Rock Quarry Road north of the closure will use the following detour route:
- Continue driving on Rock Quarry Road
- Turn right onto Old Baucom Road
- Turn left onto Brown Field Road
- Turn left onto Battle Bridge Road
- Turn left onto Auburn Knightdale Road
- Turn right onto Rock Quarry Road
Drivers wishing to access Rock Quarry Road south of the closure will use the following detour route:
- Continue driving on Rock Quarry Road
- Turn left onto Auburn Knightdale
- Turn right onto Battle Bridge Road
- Turn right onto Brown Field Road
- Turn right onto Old Baucom Road
- Turn left onto Rock Quarry Road
