CASTLE HAYNE – More than 60 miles of roadway across three counties will be improved thanks to a recently awarded contract.
The N.C. Department of Transportation awarded several contracts for milling, resurfacing and shoulder reconstruction in Pender, Sampson and Brunswick counties.
- In Pender County, one section of U.S. 421 and two sections of secondary roads were awarded to S.T. Wooten Corporation for $4.6 million.
- In Sampson County, one section of N.C. 41, one section of N.C. 55 and one section of secondary road was awarded to Barnhill Contracting Company for $5.2 million.
- In Brunswick County, one section of N.C. 87, one section of N.C. 133 and 3 sections of secondary roads were awarded to S.T. Wooten Corporation for $5.2 million.
Crews can begin construction as early as late summer, and work is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
