The N.C. Department of Transportation proposes to provide future passenger rail service for
NC By Train's popular Piedmont corridor.
Currently, eight Piedmont trains, owned and operated by NCDOT, offer daily service to Charlotte, Kannapolis, Salisbury, High Point, Greensboro, Burlington, Durham, Cary and Raleigh. NC By Train saw a dramatic increase in ridership for the third consecutive year in 2024.
NCDOT's Rail Division and its partners will host four public meetings to address why service expansion is necessary.
The four public meetings are scheduled for:
May 27 5-7 p.m.
| City Gate Dream Community Center 1423 N. Church St. Burlington
|
June 2 5-7 p.m.
| Rowan Museum 202 N. Main St. Salisbury
|
June 4 5-7 p.m.
| High Point Public Library 901 N. Main St. High Point
|
June 10 5-7 p.m.
| Trinity United Methodist Church 416 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. Kannapolis
|
The information presented at these public meetings will allow for discussions with the project team, but there will be no formal presentation. Additional details can be found at the
NCDOT public input webpage.
