The N.C. Department of Transportation proposes to replace the bridge on U.S. 70 over the Norfolk Southern Railroad in McDowell County.
The new bridge will be built to the north of the existing bridge and will include two 12-foot travel lanes and 8-foot shoulders.
U.S. 70 will remain open during construction. Construction is anticipated to take about one year and begin in 2024.
Due to COVID-19, NCDOT will not host an in-person public meeting for this project. However, the public is invited to visit NCDOT's public input portal and submit comments.
