1/3/2022 12:00 AM

STIP Number BR-0100

The N.C. Department of Transportation proposes to replace the bridge on N.C. 226 over the North Fork First Broad River in Rutherford County. The project includes replacing the existing structure with a bridge that includes two 12-foot travel lanes and 7-foot shoulders.

N.C. 226 will remain open during construction, which should start in the spring of 2024 and last for about 12 months. Traffic will be detoured through a temporary bridge over North Fork First Broad River north of the existing bridge.

Due to COVID-19, NCDOT will not host an in-person public meeting for this project. However, the public is invited to review NCDOT's public input portal and submit comments.

Public Comment

The opportunity to submit written comments will be provided at the meeting or can be submitted via phone, email, mail or at NCDOT public input portal.
