U.S. 70 Improvements in Durham

Project Overview

Planning and development are underway to convert approximately four miles of U.S. 70 to a high-speed freeway design with on-ramps and off-ramps from Lynn Road to Page Road Extension in Durham.

Although currently unfunded, these improvements would increase safety, decrease traffic congestion and travel time along U.S. 70 between I-885 and I-540 in Wake County.

Access to U.S. 70 at South Miami Boulevard and Mineral Springs and Sherron roads would be converted from an intersection to an interchange.

The proposed project is being developed in conjunction with additional proposed improvements to U.S. 70 between Brier Creek Parkway and T.W. Alexander Drive in Raleigh.

Project Funding

This project is listed as Project U-5720 and is currently unfunded.
