Anthony "Tony" Lathrop joined the N.C. Board of Transportation in March 2017 and was named chairman in 2025. He chaired the Board's Finance Committee (formerly the Funding/Appropriation Strategies (FAST) Committee) from 2017-2025. He also served as an Advisory Member of the NCDOT’s NC FIRST (Future Investment Resources for Sustainable Transportation) Commission.
As a partner at Parker Poe, Tony focuses his expertise on transportation, land use, and public-sector strategy, advising clients on how to navigate complex infrastructure initiatives and the governmental processes that shape them. He served on the Charlotte Mecklenburg Planning Commission from 2011-2017 and chaired the commission from 2014-2017. Lathrop also serves on the Charlotte Unified Development Ordinance Advisory Committee, which he chaired from 2016-2023.
A resident of Charlotte, Lathrop holds both undergraduate and law degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
