If you recently completed a title transaction, such as paying off a loan, you may have been issued a new title number. This number will not match the one previously associated with your plate. If you recently purchased a new vehicle and transferred your existing license plate to that vehicle, you may also receive an error message when attempting to renew online. In that case, please contact NCDMV by submitting the Contract Us form below.
