U.S. 64 Bridge Work in Nash County Requires Ramp Closure

Ramp closure will be Aug. 7-8

NASHVILLE – A project to preserve a U.S. 64 bridge in Nash County will require a lane reduction and a detour for an on-ramp this week.

An N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will repair and replace the joints and do other maintenance on the westbound highway’s bridge over a railroad track near mile marker 457, just west of Nashville. The work will extend the life of the bridge.

The work is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, weather permitting. The work will require the ramp to enter U.S. 64 West from U.S. 64 Alternate to be closed. A detour will direct motorists on U.S. 64 Alternate to access U.S. 64 East at the next exit at N.C. 58; then turn left at the bottom of the ramp and enter U.S. 64 West.

Transportation officials remind motorists to stay alert in the work zone, watch signs for construction information and obey the posted speed limit.
