Raleigh, Cary Roads to Be Resurfaced

RALEIGH – Thanks to a N.C. Department of Transportation contract, over 17 miles of roads in Raleigh and Cary will be getting some fresh surfaces. The nearly $4.3 million contract was awarded to the Lane Construction Corporation of Cheshire, Connecticut.

Starting Oct. 1, repairs can begin on 37 sections of roadway, including Jones Franklin Road, Dillard Drive, Chapel Hill Road, and SE Cary Parkway. The contractor will be restricted to working nights during the week on Jones Franklin Road, and during non-commuting hours while resurfacing the other major roadways.

All resurfacing work is expected to be completed by Nov. 30, 2019.

While contracting crews progress, detour signs will be posted to navigate around their worksites.

As required by state law, the contract was awarded to the pre-qualified candidate with the lowest bid. This is among six road and bridge contracts recently awarded by the transportation department worth $166.2 million, an amount about $16.3 million under department engineer forecasts.
