SOUTHPORT – Due to the approach of Hurricane Florence, the N.C. Department of Transportation’s Ferry Division will suspend operations on the Southport-Fort Fisher ferry route as of 7:30 p.m. tonight.
The closure will allow the Ferry Division to move the M/V Southport and the M/V Fort Fisher to safer mooring locations.
Ferry Division managers will monitor weather conditions and resume service as soon as it is safe to do so.
