Lane Closures for Warranty Work on I-85 Widening Project in Davidson County

LEXINGTON  — N.C. Department of Transportation contractors will close two of four lanes along Interstate 85 between mile markers 84 and 88 starting Monday. They will be conducting five-year warranty repair work along the completed widening project in Davidson County.

“We’ve identified some concrete joints and slabs that need repairs and the contractor estimates that weather permitting, the work will be complete within four weeks,” said NCDOT Senior Assistant Resident Engineer Larry Shaver.

Lanes will be closed starting with the two inside lanes and finishing with the two outside lanes between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily starting Monday, Oct. 8 until Friday, Nov. 2.

While the portion of highway will not be completely closed, crews will be working alongside traffic at times so drivers are urged to slow down in the work zone, watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
