Public Meetings for Proposed Improvements to N.C. 73 in Lincoln, Mecklenburg Counties

CHARLOTTE – The N.C. Department of Transportation will hold two public meetings next week to present additional information about a project to improve 8.5 miles of N.C. 73 between N.C. 16 in Lincoln County and Northcross Drive in Mecklenburg County. Public meetings were first held in February to gather preliminary public input.

The project's purpose is to increase capacity in the corridor so it will operate at an acceptable level of service through the design year 2040, and to accommodate other users like pedestrians and cyclists.

People can attend either or both meetings on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Lake Norman Baptist Church, 7921 Sam Furr Road in Huntersville
  • Thursday, Oct. 18, at Unity Presbyterian Church, 8210 Unity Church Road in Denver

Both meetings will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., with a formal presentation at 6:30 p.m. Citizens will have the opportunity to view preliminary design maps and renderings or visualizations of some of the proposed intersection treatments along the project corridor.

Comments can also be submitted by phone, email or mail through November 2. Contact Wilson Stroud, NCDOT Project Development Engineer, for more information at 1548 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, N.C., 27699-1548, 919-707-6045.

NCDOT will provide auxiliary aids and services under the Americans with Disabilities Act for disabled persons who wish to participate in this meeting. Anyone requiring special services should contact Caitlyn Ridge at (919) 707-6091 as early as possible so arrangements can be made.
