Public Meeting Postponed for Rail Crossing Project in Guilford County

GREENSBORO - Due to the threat of inclement weather from Hurricane Michael, transportation officials have decided to postpone Thursday’s open-house public meeting for the proposed grade separation project at the Norfolk Southern rail crossing at Hilltop Road in Guilford County.

The meeting originally scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Korean United Methodist Church at 2504 E. Woodlyn Way in Greensboro will be rescheduled for a later date.

“Portions of the Triad area could experience several inches of rain and tropical force winds depending on the track of the storm, therefore postponing the meeting is the best course of action for the traveling public and staff members,” said NCDOT Board Chairman Michael S. Fox.

The opportunity to submit written comments will continue to be provided via phone, email, or mail.

Anyone desiring additional information may contact NCDOT Senior Rail Project Development Engineer Gregory Blakeney at 919-707-4717 or at 1598 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699.

The public can view maps displaying the location and design of the project as they become available online at https://www.ncdot.gov/news/public-meetings.

This project is included in the Greensboro Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization 2040 Metropolitan Transportation Plan and is part of the Piedmont Improvement Program.
