Roadside Environmental Unit Offers Education, Fun at State Fair

RALEIGH — There’s more than just deep fried food available at the North Carolina State Fair this year. The N.C. Department of Transportation’s Roadside Environmental Unit booth offers unique educational information and fun giveaways.

Fairgoers can pick up informative bookmarks about wildflowers, scenic byways and pollinators along with state maps, litter prevention magnets and stickers. While supplies last, guidebooks about the NCDOT Wildflower and Scenic Byways program, plus wildflower seed packs, will also be available.

Additionally, teachers can sign up to receive information and activities about litter prevention and storm water for their students.

The booth is located on the other side of the demonstration stage in the Flower and Garden show and is open every day of the fair from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. starting on Oct. 12. The fair runs from Thursday, Oct. 11 through Sunday, Oct. 21.
