Michael Impacts Metrolina Region

CHARLOTTE Remnants of Hurricane Michael plowed through the Charlotte area Thursday, impacting 48 roads in Division 10 (Anson, Cabarrus, Mecklenburg, Stanly and Union counties), ranging from high water on roads to downed trees tangling power lines.

All primary roads are open in the division. Fifteen secondary roads are closed in Anson County, mostly due to high water. Eleven roads are closed in Stanly County.

In Cabarrus County, seven of the 10 reported closures are due to trees falling on power lines. Union County maintenance crews are reporting four closures due to downed trees, and a section of Doster Road is closed south of Monroe, due to a pipe failure.

A section of Oakdale Road is also closed between I-485 and Simpson Road in Mecklenburg County, due to downed trees.

While work continues, some roads may be barricaded. Drivers who come across a road with barricades should not attempt to drive around them or move them. Instead, turn around and seek an alternate route.

Updated road closure information is available at www.DriveNC.gov.
