Public Meeting for Traffic Congestion Reduction Project in Guilford County

GREENSBORO - Transportation officials will hold an open-house style public meeting this week for the widening of Burlington Road from Mt. Hope Church Road to Birch Creek Road in Guilford County.

“Once complete this project will reduce traffic congestion and improve mobility along a highly traveled section of Burlington Road," said Division Seven Engineer Mike Mills.

The project was adopted in June of 2010 by the Greensboro Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization and is a priority project for Division seven.

The meeting will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church at 5120 Burlington Road in Greensboro.

At the meeting, there will be maps of the proposed plans as well as project team members available to answer questions and receive feedback.

The opportunity to submit written comments will be provided at the meeting or can be done via phone, email, or mail no later than Thursday, Nov. 1.

The public can view maps displaying the location and design of the project as they become available online at http://ncdot.gov/projects/publicmeetings/default.html.
