Comments Sought for Proposed Improvements to N.C. 127 in Catawba County

HICKORY People are invited to provide input on a developing project that would improve traffic flow on N.C. 127 from Huffman Farm Road to Zion Church Road in Hickory.

Traffic volumes on this stretch of N.C. 127 are causing congestion, and parts of the corridor may approach 30,000 vehicles per day by 2040. The proposed project would widen N.C. 127 to a four-lane divided roadway to address the additional traffic. This proposal is consistent with recommendations included in the Greater Hickory MPO's Long Range Transportation Plan.

More information and a map of the proposed improvements can be found on the NCDOT Public Meeting website.

A public meeting is scheduled from 4-7 p.m. Oct. 23 at Mountain Grove Baptist Church, 6156 Mountain Grove Church Road, in Hickory. People may attend the meeting at any time, as no formal presentation will be made.

People who cannot attend the meeting may submit comments in writing, or by phone or email through Nov. 23. All comments received will be reviewed and considered for the final design.
