CLEMMONS - A section of Interstate 40 West will be closed at the Davie-Forsyth County line for two nights next week between Harper Road and the Yadkin River Bridge. The closures are part of the ongoing project to replace the I-40 bridges over the Yadkin River, and to widen and make improvements on the interstate.
The roadway will be closed on both Monday, Oct. 22, and Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 11:30 p.m. until 6 a.m. the next morning. Additional nights of westbound closures are expected over the next two weeks and are subject to scheduling changes. The work is weather conditional.
There will be a detour in place, sending traffic off the interstate at Harper Road, then using U.S. 158 and N.C. 801 to get back to I-40.
Drivers are urged to pay extra attention when approaching the closure and along the detour route.
