WINTERVILLE — North Railroad Street in Winterville will be closed later this week to allow for the installation of a new sewer manhole. The closure, set for Saturday, Nov. 3, at 7 a.m. until Monday, Nov. 5, at 6 p.m., is needed because the project requires a deep cut in the middle of the road.
Closing the road completely instead of keeping it open with lane closures while the work is taking place allows the contractor to complete the job faster, and more importantly, makes it safer for drivers and workers.
A 1.5-mile detour route will redirect traffic headed south on North Railroad Street onto Worthington Street and Mill Street, then right onto Tyson Street to get back to North Railroad Street. Northbound traffic will do the same detour in reverse.
Drivers are encouraged to exercise caution and awareness when traveling through detours.
