Peters Creek Parkway Exit Ramp Detours Set for This Weekend

WINSTON-SALEM – An exit ramp on Business 40 and a section of Peters Creek Parkway will be closed for part of this weekend.

The first closure will be the exit ramp located on eastbound Business 40 at Peters Creek Parkway. Crews will close the ramp on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 6 a.m. It will reopen on Sunday, Nov. 4, by 4 p.m. The opening could be earlier than that if expected good weather allows the work to be completed sooner.

The closure is needed so crews can safely pave the ramp to bring it closer to the final grade, making a smoother approach to Peters Creek Parkway. The type of paving material being used will not be affected by recent rains.

While the exit ramp is closed, eastbound motorists wanting to access Peters Creek Parkway will continue onto Business 40 until they reach Exit 5C onto High Street. They will turn left onto Cherry Street and then left onto West First Street, which will bring them back to Peters Creek Parkway.

The second closure will be in front of the Link Apartments at the intersection of Peters Creek Parkway and First Street. It is a temporary closure that will affect motorists wishing to access southbound Peters Creek Parkway. Instead of turning west onto First Street, they will be directed around Park Circle to the parkway.

Police will be directing traffic while crews lay a drainage pipe across the southbound lanes of Peters Creek Parkway in front of the apartment complex.

A map of the closure location and the detour route is available online.
