Comments Sought for Proposed U.S. 21 Project in Iredell County

STATESVILLE The public is invited to provide input on a project under development to widen approximately one mile of U.S. 21 between Pump Station Road and north of Fort Dobbs Road, and improve where U.S. 21 intersects Shumaker Drive and Jane Sowers Road in Statesville.

The project was initially submitted for funding consideration by the former Mecklenburg-Union Metropolitan Planning Organization, now the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization. The project scored well in the regional tier with support from the local NCDOT division and planning organization.

More information and a map of the proposed improvements can be found on the NCDOT Public Meeting website.

A public meeting will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Fairview Baptist Church, 349 Turnersburg Highway. People may attend the meeting at any time, as no formal presentation will be made.

Area residents who cannot attend the meeting may submit comments in writing, phone or email through Dec. 12. All comments received will be reviewed and considered for the final design.
