Upcoming Traffic Shift for Capital Boulevard in Raleigh

RALEIGH Work that is part of the Capital Boulevard bridge replacements project will require a small shift for northbound traffic this evening.

Starting at 7 p.m., contractors will be shifting traffic on northbound Capital Boulevard one lane closer to the median from Dortch Street to the end of the project after the Wade Avenue bridge.

The shift is dependent on weather and subject to delay if conditions are poor.

Recent wet weather and colder temperatures have caused some minor delays in the project schedule. However, the new ramp bridge carrying traffic from northbound Capital Boulevard onto westbound Wade Avenue is expected to be open later this December. Like the scheduled shift, this opening date is subject to weather conditions.

The current ramp bridge for westbound Wade Avenue has been closed since early October so crews could complete work tying in the new ramp to connect northbound Capital Boulevard and westbound Wade Avenue. The new ramp was build alongside the existing structure.

Drivers are urged to slow down and pay attention as they approach the work zone.

Updated information on the project to replace the Wade Avenue ramp bridge, and the Capital Boulevard bridge over Peace Street is available through a variety of means, including the project website, as well as the NCDOT Triangle Twitter feed.
