$8.6 million Resurfacing Contract Awarded for Onslow County

JACKSONVILLE – The N.C. Department of Transportation will resurface a section of U.S. 17 and several smaller roads in Onslow County road in the coming months.

The department has recently awarded a $8.6 million contract to Onslow Grading & Paving Inc. of Jacksonville. The contractor will mill away the old asphalt, resurface the affected roadways and place permanent lane markings. The work includes repaving about three miles of the section of U.S. 17 near West Ocean Road (N.C. 50) through the town of Holly Ridge.

In addition, 25 secondary routes in Onslow County will be resurfaced. The work will be done between January next year and May of 2020.

This is one of nine highway and bridge projects awarded in November by the N.C. Department of Transportation. As required by state law, the contracts went to the lowest qualified bidder. They are worth $488.1 million.
