Craven Co. Road Closed for Bridge Replacement

HARLOWE – A Craven County road will be closed while the N.C. Department of Transportation replaces a bridge.

The Blades Road bridge over Mortons Mill Pond, in Harlowe, will be closed in both directions starting Jan. 2. The new bridge, which will be two lanes, is expected to reopen in May.

While the bridge is safe for drivers, replacing it is needed due to the structure’s age. The project will cost about $1.3 million.

During the closure, drivers will be detoured onto N.C. 101, Temples Point Road and Godette School Road. Drivers are urged to use caution when approaching the closure and anticipate needing extra time to travel through the area because of the detour.
