Citizen Feedback Needed Tomorrow for Proposed Widening of N.C. 66 in Walkertown

WALKERTOWN – Transportation officials will hold a meeting to present draft options and seek input on the proposed widening of N.C. 66 from Harley Drive to U.S. 158 in Forsyth County.

The meeting will be held Thursday, March 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church, located at 2715 Darrow Road in Walkertown.

The project will address capacity issues along this section of the corridor. It would also address other goals of local transportation officials, such as enhancing safety, accommodating bicyclists and pedestrians, and supporting regional mobility.

NCDOT representatives will be available to answer questions and receive comments regarding the proposed project. No formal presentation will be made. Attendees will also have the opportunity to submit written comments and questions until April 23. Anyone desiring additional information may contact NCDOT Division 9 Project Development Engineer, Brett Abernathy, P.E. at (336) 747-7800 or jbabernathy@ncdot.gov.

The public can view maps displaying the location and design of the project as they become available online at http://ncdot.gov/projects/publicmeetings.

NCDOT will provide auxiliary aids and services under the Americans with Disabilities Act for disabled persons who wish to participate in this meeting. Anyone requiring special services should contact Tamara Makhlouf via email at tmakhlouf@ncdot.gov or by phone at (919) 707-6072 as early as possible so that arrangements can be made.
