SYLVA — Every comment counts.
The N.C. Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting on
Thursday, March 15 regarding the proposed widening of N.C. 191 between Mountain
Road and N.C. 280 south of Mills River in Henderson County.
The proposed work will address increasing safety on the highway,
which currently has a crash rate above the state average. It will address
increasing congestion problems by adding one lane in each direction. It will
enhance bicycle and pedestrian facilities with 5-foot bike lanes and a
10-foot-wide multi-use path between Rugby Middle and West Henderson High
School.
Transportation officials are seeking thoughts and comments
regarding the project at the meeting to be held 4-7 p.m. at Mills River Town
Hall, 124 Town Center Drive. The comment period will be open until April 16. The
project development team will read each comment and take them all into
consideration as project plans evolve.
Interested citizens may attend the meeting at any time. Preliminary
designs maps are available at www.NCDOT.gov/projects/publicmeetings.
