Tackle Drunk Driving Before the Game Starts

RALEIGH - Kickoff on America's favorite pastime is just about ready to start. For many football fans, when it's time for the Super Bowl, everyone's a fan…and Fans Don't Let Fans Drive Drunk.  The N.C. Governor's Highway Safety Program (GHSP) is partnering with state and local law enforcement agencies to remind drivers to not drop the ball and to plan ahead on how to get home safely.

"We want to encourage folks to turn over their keys to a sober driver before they begin drinking," said GHSP Director Mark Ezzell. "There are many other ways to ensure a safe ride home besides relying on a friend. The options include using public transportation, calling a taxi, or using a rideshare program."

The mobile site BeSmarterThanThat.com is another resource to help fans who have been drinking find a sober ride home-by providing users a way to download ride apps, designate a sober driver, call a cab, or find public transit options.

This Super Bowl weekend, be a team player and help keep impaired drivers from getting behind the wheel. Remember, Fans Don't Let Fans Drive Drunk.
