This Week at NCDOT: N.C. Transportation Summit Wrap-up

 

RALEIGH – The following are highlights from this week at the N.C. Department of Transportation. The stories below are also featured in NCDOT Now, the department’s weekly newscast.

N.C. Transportation Summit
More than 1,000 people from around the world registered to attend the first ever N.C. Transportation Summit at the Raleigh Convention Center on Jan. 9-10. Industry leaders talked about disruptive technologies that are being developed and how they will impact the future of transportation. Speakers also shared lessons learned from their fields of expertise. The event was a partnership between the N.C. Department of Transportation and NC Go!

Gov. Roy Cooper opened the two-day summit. He says transportation is a pivotal part of North Carolina’s history and future.

Industry leaders presented on many topics including creative funding solutions, data collection and analysis, and new and disruptive technologies. In the exhibit hall, companies from around the country showcased their products which could shape the future of transportation.

When closing out the event, Transportation Secretary Jim Trogdon said preparing for the change is paramount. “…it’s not about today… it’s about the future,” he told the crowd.
