AYDEN - The N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close two lanes of a Pitt County highway to make improvements to the median.
NCDOT will close the inside lane of N.C. 11 near Ayden in both directions near the intersection of Elliot Dixon Road. The lanes will be closed from 7 a.m. on Feb. 4 until 5 p.m. on Feb. 8, and then again from 7 a.m. on Feb. 11 through 5 p.m. on Feb. 15. One lane will remain open for traffic on these dates, and all lanes will be open during the weekends.
Starting next week, the contractor will lay a storm drain pipe and do some grading work in the median. The closure allows the crews to work in a safe and timely manner.
There will not be a detour in place, so drivers are urged to be alert and slow down while crews are working.
