ROCKWELL – The N.C. Department of Transportation will close portions of two Rowan County roads next week to replace several storm drain culverts that cross under the roads.
The structures have failed and stormwater is not passing under the roadway correctly. It is essential that the culverts are repaired in order to prevent damage to the roadway and adjacent properties.
The closures will affect Artz Road and Emanuel Church Road from 7:30 a.m. on Monday until 5 p.m. Friday.
Artz Road will be closed where one culvert will be replaced near Faith Road. A signed detour will be in place following Faith Road, Brown Street and Mount Hope Church Road.
Emanuel Church Road will be closed to replace three culverts between Old Beatty Ford and Shade Valley roads. Drivers will be detoured to Old Beatty Ford Road, Rockwell Road to where it becomes Emanuel Road in Cabarrus County, Kluttz Road in Cabarrus County, and Mt. Olive Road to where it becomes Emanuel Church Road in Rowan county.
Drivers should slow down and use caution near the work zones, and be prepared for possible delays along the detour routes.
