Mecklenburg County Intersection Realignment Being Proposed

CORNELIUS – The N.C. Department of Transportation is holding a public meeting next week to gather input on a proposed project to improve traffic flow at the intersection of Torrence Chapel Road and West Catawba Avenue in Cornelius.

Under the proposal, roundabouts would be built on Torrence Chapel Road and Liverpool Parkway, with additional improvements proposed for Knox Road to reduce delays for drivers. NCDOT has recommended these improvements after conducting extensive traffic and operations analysis.

A public meeting will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Cornelius Town Hall, 21445 Catawba Ave.. People may attend the meeting at any time, as no formal presentation will be made.

People who cannot attend the meeting may submit comments in writing, by phone or email through March 22. All comments received will be reviewed and considered for the final design.
