NCDOT, Public to Meet Concerning Extension of Carteret County Road

MOREHEAD CITY - The N.C. Department of Transportation will host a public meeting regarding the proposal to extend a Morehead City road.

Bridges Street Extension would be extended to McCabe Road in Morehead City by widening an existing road, Business Drive, and constructing a segment in a new location. The project would reduce congestion along U.S. 70 and increase mobility. It would also provide a local connection and improve access to the business park along Business Drive. The January 2014 Carteret County Comprehensive Transportation Plan – Highways shows a need for the project.

Maps of the proposal area can be found at the NCDOT Public Meetings website.

The public meeting will be held on March 20 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Crystal Coast Civic Center at 3505 Arendell Street. Interested residents can drop in any time during the meeting to learn more about the proposal, have questions answered and talk with NCDOT representatives. There will not be a formal presentation.

Written comments can also be submitted by phone, email or mail and will be accepted through April 22.
