Overnight Paving Work Resumes on I-40 in Greensboro

GREENSBORO – Paving work that will require various overnight lane closures has resumed on Interstate 40 in Greensboro.

Both directions of the interstate will be paved between Gallimore Dairy Road and South Buffalo Creek, near Freeman Mill Road. The work will take place between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. through Oct. 15.

The work will require temporary ramp closures and for two of three lanes to be closed at any given time. However, closures are only expected to occur on one side of the interstate at a time.

Drivers are encouraged to use I-73 and Business 85 as an alternative route. Those who do travel through the work zone should slow down and expect the potential for delays.

This is part of a project to resurface 5.7 miles of the interstate between I-73 and the bridge over South Buffalo Creek. The work began in September 2018 and was suspended in December due to weather.
