Davidson County Bridge Replacement Comes with Road Closure

LEXINGTON – Part of a Davidson County road will close during a bridge replacement project expected to last several months.

The Jersey Church Road bridge over Swearing Creek, south of Lexington, was built in 1976 and has reached the end of its useful life cycle.

Project contractor Smith-Rowe LLC will close Jersey Church Road on either side of the creek at 8 a.m. Monday, June 10. Local traffic will still be able to access locations up to the construction site.

The road is expected to reopen in November. Until then, a signed detour will be in place following Linwood-Southmont Road, Junior Order Home Road (N.C. 47) and New Jersey Church Road.

Drivers should be cautious near the work zone and plan ahead for extra travel time because of the detour.
