Pipe Failure Closes Part of Davidson County Road

LEXINGTON – Part of a Davidson County Road is expected to be closed for about a month while N.C. Department of Transportation maintenance crews replace a failed drainage pipe.

Officials closed Jerusalem Road near John Lookabill Road on Monday due to a void developing in the middle of the roadway. The corrugated metal pipe that allows a creek to run under the road was deteriorated and failing.

The replacement is expected to last until late September, weather permitting. In the meantime, a signed detour is in place directing traffic to use Regan and Willowmore Springs roads to access points on either side of the closure.

Drivers should slow down and use caution near the work zone and allow for extra travel time due to the detour.
