U.S. 401/Louisburg Road Reopens Six Weeks Ahead of Schedule

Six weeks after Northeast Raleigh was inundated with nearly eight inches of rainfall within a four-hour period, U.S. 401 (Louisburg Road) over the Little River has reopened a full six weeks ahead of schedule.

Original estimates following the flood event that wiped out this and other structures in the area pegged the reopening for August 31. N.C. Department of Transportation engineers worked with a contractor that was already onsite and under contract to replace the structure to fast-track the project.
