Port of Wilmington Named Fastest Growing Port
The
Port of Wilmington has been named the fastest growing U.S. port. The port grew nearly 27% from 2017 to 2018, according to the
American Council of Engineering Companies.
This happened in large part because of the cold storage warehousing dock and the growth in the Wilmington area’s industrial real estate market. The cold storage warehousing dock makes it easier for farmers and businesses to export and import perishable goods like pork, seafood, fruits and vegetables.
With more than 300 ports in the nation, the Port of Wilmington is now ranked the 25th largest.
Watch for Me NC Application Deadline Nears
The deadline is nearing for communities interested in participating in the
2020 Watch for Me NC safety program. Applications can be submitted via the
Watch for Me NC website through Jan. 31.
The program focuses on bicycle and pedestrian safety, education and enforcement. Selected communities will receive free law enforcement training, technical assistance and safety tools, plus materials with pedestrian and bike safety messages that can be used at public events.
