RALEIGH – The following are highlights from this week at the N.C. Department of Transportation. The stories below are also featured in
NCDOT Now, the department's weekly newscast.
Super Bowl Safety
The Super Bowl is this Sunday and the N.C. Department of Transportation wants to make sure you not only have fun, but are safe, too. NCDOT and the
Governor’s Highway Safety Program are reminding motorists to celebrate the Super Bowl responsibly. Make sure to designate a sober driver and always buckle up, every seat, every time.
Those watching the game should:
- Ask a sober friend for a ride home, or use a ride sharing app or choose public transportation if no designated driver is present; and
- Never let friends drive if they’ve had too much to drink.
Drive a Scenic Byway on Valentine's Day
If you’re looking for ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day, NCDOT suggests taking your sweatheart for a drive on any of our 60 scenic byways. You can experience a bit of North Carolina history, geography and the natural splendor that makes our state so unique. The byways are carefully selected as safe and interesting alternatives to our faster-paced commercial areas.
