WAKE FOREST – A monthlong project to resurface four miles of U.S. 1 Alternate near Wake Forest is scheduled to get underway tonight.

The first section of U.S. 1A to be resurfaced is a nearly two-mile stretch between N.C. 98 and West Chestnut Street.

Beginning today, one lane in each direction will be closed between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. the next day Monday through Friday.

Once that section is completed, crews will begin resurfacing the two miles of roadway between where U.S. 1A starts adjacent to Falls of Neuse Road and N.C. 98.

For this section, one lane will be closed in each direction Monday through Friday between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning.
