Widening, Improvements to Continue on I-40 East at Davie/Forsyth County Line

​CLEMMONS – Travelers headed east on Interstate 40 near the Davie-Forsyth county line can expect detours later this month as part of ongoing widening and improvements to the interstate.

Weather permitting, the contractor is scheduled to close one lane of I-40 east from 1 mile west of N.C. 801 (Exit 180) to Harper Road (Exit 182) for several nights next week and then continuously between Aug. 17 and Aug. 30.

The first closure is scheduled from 6 p.m. and 5 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday. At the same time, the contractor also will close the I-40 east off-ramp to N.C. 801 (Exit 180).

Detoured traffic will use I-40 east to Harper Road (Exit 182) back to I-40 west.  

The second closure is scheduled for one lane on I-40 east from 1 mile west of N.C. 801 (Exit 180) to Harper Road (Exit 182). This second closure will be put in place continuously from 9 a.m. Aug. 17 through 5 p.m. Aug. 30. The contractor also will close the N.C. 801 on-ramp to I-40 east. 

Detoured traffic will use N.C. 801, U.S. 158 and Harper Road to access I-40.

Motorists should watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
