GASTONIA – Travelers will notice a change in traffic patterns at the Interstate 85 interchange with U.S. 321 in Gaston starting in mid-November.
N.C. Department of Transportation contractors are nearly finished revising some of the interchange located in northern Gastonia. Ramp A, the new I-85 South ramp to northbound US-321, is scheduled to open by Nov. 16. Ramp D, the new ramp from US-321 South to I-85 North, is scheduled to open by Nov. 30. Both openings are dependent on weather.
In addition to new permanent signs, temporary signs and message boards will be placed on the route prior to and several weeks after the ramps open to alert drivers of the change and allow ample time for them to adjust.
Drivers should remain cautious in this area as crews continue to work on improving other parts of the interchange.
